As part of the Gone Too Soon series, Benji B presents this 1Xtra story celebrating the incredible music J Dilla created during his lifetime which includes tracks for Janet Jackson, Busta Rhymes, Tribe Called Quest, The Roots, The Pharcyde and De La Soul to name but a few.

Charlie Peters, also known as Easy Lee, is a poet, author, and recording artist. Born in New Orleans, he later moved to San Antonio, TX, and now resides in Atlanta, GA. He recently made this incredible demo called ‘Searching For James River’ produced by George ‘G.P.’ Pettus. It features clips of a rare interview with R&B/Soul singer D’Angelo. This song was not made to promote an album or profit the poet. It was made to respond to countless conversations soul music fans have about music, art, legends, and demons. Enjoy and pass it along!
